Lady Aggies roll past Blue Devils

The Albertville Lady Aggies whipped Etowah 13-3 Thursday afternoon at Sheldon Elmore Park.

AHS improved to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in the Class 5A, Area 12 softball standings.


The Lady Aggies scored three runs in both the first and second innings. They forced the 10-run mercy rule by plating seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Albertville finished with eight hits and also capitalized on five walks and four errors.

Katlin Light batted 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs to power Albertville's attack.

Shainna Pearce doubled and Emily Woodruff, Torrea Talton, Brittany Copeland, Peighton Ponder and Erin Segers all singled.

Pearce collected two RBIs. Both Madi Bruce and Copeland scored three runs while Woodruff and Talton scored two each.

Talton was the winning pitcher for Albertville. She gave up three hits and struck out three in three innings.

Ponder tossed three innings and yielded four hits.

The AHS pitchers didn't issue a walk.

Albertville is competing in the Red and Blue Classic at Vestavia Hills on Saturday.
