AHS routs Etowah

ATTALLA — The Albertville varsity softball team blasted Etowah 12-0 on Thursday afternoon, improving to 15-3-1 overall and 4-0 in the Class 5A, Area 13, standings.

Albertville senior left-hander Carrie Barton tossed a one-hitter. She didn’t walk any and struck out five in the five-inning contest.

The Lady Aggies scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second, five in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Albertville collected 11 hits, including a home run by Becca Townsend, a triple by Erin Segers and doubles by Barton and McKenzie Peet.

Peet finished 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, and Hannah Woodruff went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Segers batted 2-for-3 with two runs.

Barton was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, and Emily Woodruff went 1-for-2.

Townsend batted 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Both Torrea Talton and Maggie Younghouse closed 1-for-3.

Brittany Copeland scored two runs and Stephanie NeSmith one.
