Aggies post triumphs over Eagles, Knights

Albertville’s varsity softball team downed Douglas 6-1 on Monday at Douglas.

Becca Townsend batted 2-for-2 with a double, run and RBI, and McKenzie Peet was 2-for-4 with a double, run and two RBIs to lead the Lady Aggies at the plate.

Haley Carnes doubled and scored a run, and both Hannah Woodruff and Stephanie NeSmith singled and scored for AHS.

Erin Segers contributed a hit and RBI. Katie Moman scored a run, and Torrea Talton posted an RBI.

Talton was the winning pitcher. She threw four innings and allowed two hits while striking out seven.

Carrie Barton pitched three innings for Albertville. She gave up four hits, struck out three and walked one.

Menco Holcomb batted 2-for-3, and Jacey Scott finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and double for the Eagles.

Hayley Ross went 1-for-1 while Anna Kinney was 1-for-3.

Sierra Baker scored the Eagles’ run.

Albertville 19, Arab 3, five innings: The Lady Aggies improved to 10-1-1 by routing an error-prone Arab squad on Tuesday at Arab.

Albertville exploded for six runs in the third inning and nine in the fifth.

The Lady Knights committed 11 errors.

NeSmith paced the Lady Aggies with three hits, three runs and four RBIs. One of her hits was a double.

Woodruff collected two hits, two RBIs and three runs while Peet finished with two hits, two runs and two RBIs. One of Peet’s hits was a double.

Barton had two hits, one run and one RBI, and Townsend had one hit, two runs and three RBIs.

Maggie Younghouse ended the day with one hit, two RBIs and three runs.

Both Talton and Segers scored two runs, and Brittany Copeland added one run and one RBI.

Barton was the winning pitcher.

The senior left-hander yielded four hits, struck out six and walked one.

Chelsea Higginbotham hit a solo homer for Arab.
